Frances MacEachen

Frances (Frangag Ni’n Eóghainn ‘ic Raghnaill Aonghais Raghnaill) currently works as Program and Development Officer with the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. She lives in Little Judique, Cape Breton, and has spent much of her adult life reconnecting with, and championing, her Gaelic heritage, language and culture. She published a Gaelic cultural publication, Am Bràighe (“Higher Ground”), for 10 years and worked in Mabou for the Province’s Office of Gaelic Affairs. She was also the lead of How We Thrive’s Air Chélidh, or Gaelic Narrative Project.

Frances is a founding member of MAGIC (Mi'kmaq, Acadians and Gaels of Inverness County), enjoys singing Gaelic songs with friends, and is passionate about the importance of Nova Scotia's heritage languages and cultures in building vibrant and thriving communities.
